The college football and basketball video-coordinator community held its 15th annual convention in Jacksonville, FL, discussing the future of the industry and challenges as colleges and universities gear up for the move to HD coaching analysis.
Bexel Broadcast Services (a SVG Platinum Sponsor) provided its special brand of A/V support to more than 150 video coordinators and manufacturers, including SVG, all on hand for the conference. Luke Goldstein, CSVA president, says the opportunity to discuss issues like digital game exchange and facility design are important to allowing video coordinators develop their skills and, in turn, the quality of player performance on the field.
A total of 30 exhibitors”including Canon, Panasonic, Sony, and video-analysis-software vendors like DV Sports, XOS, and LRS Sports”displayed their latest wares in the CSVA exhibit hall.
Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG editorial director, was on hand to moderate a panel focused on maintaining near- and long-term archives. Dave Dukes, PGA Tour Productions' director of operations, discussed the PGA Tour Productions workflow and lessons learned during the transition to tapeless operations.
The CSVA community is an important part of the SVG family, and their event will be complemented by SVG's own college event next month: the College Sports Video Summit, to be held in Atlanta June 9-10.
