Bexel Makes (More) History…

Washington, D.C.
January 2009

From the steps of the Capitol during the swearing in ceremony and all along the parade route, Bexel Broadcast Services was there “ front and center, providing cameras, specialty lenses and audio gear to capture the sights and sounds of history in the making!

ABC, BBC, CBS, CNN, C-SPAN, FOX, MSNBC, NBC, and Reuters are just a few of the majors that trusted Bexel to help make their broadcast the most memorable Inauguration ever. It was Bexel cutting edge equipment and technology along married with experienced engineers and technical specialists that helped to capture this piece of historyevent for the world to see and hear!

MSNBC built a temporary control room and studio on the Mall, just steps from the Capitol. To ensure the American viewers did not miss a word, they called on the audio specialists of Bexel ASG to provide the technical crew and wireless microphones, intercoms and IFBs to catch every word of the event.

As the exclusive television network feed for the Inaugural Parade route, CBS News called on Bexel to provide the technical expertise and equipment to ensure that the 2009 Inaugural coverage went off without a hitch. The (now very) famous images of President Barack Obama walking the Inaugural Parade route were all captured using six of Bexel’s Sony 1500 cameras - some outfitted with long 86X lens, strategically placed up and down Pennsylvania Avenue to record the most watched Presidential Inauguration in television history. Bexel also provided the terminal gear that made sure the speeches were heard with clarity and in real time.

ABC tapped into the RF fiber infrastructure that Bexel ASG designed and integrated last year for the Newseum project. This allowed ABC’s producers, directors and talent to communicate with one another in multiple areas, seamlessly and with clarity, throughout this very large facility. ABC s marathon broadcast of the day’s events went into two studios on two floors. Bexel ASG provided the technical staff and equipment to help broadcast over twelve hours of news coverage.

MTV Networks celebrated at the Youth Ball and tapped Bexel to provide an F-900 HD camera to use wirelessly throughout the ballroom to capture all the crowds enthusiasm.

CNN’s Larry King Show tapped the expertise of Bexel ASG to provide a seasoned sound and monitor mixer to record Ashford and Simpson, Seal, Will i. Am and a 35-piece chorus for a series of special Inaugural shows. Being a news network, CNN did not have the equipment or knowhow for this type of recording, so they looked to Bexel ASG for help.

Finally, The Oprah Winfrey Show celebrated the Inauguration with a star powered broadcast from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Once again, Bexel ASG supplied equipment and specialty audio expertise in frequency coordination and RF management of 38 microphones, 24 wireless intercom users, and 8 in-ear monitors as well as 12 RTS hardwired intercom channels for a large crew and guest list. This show was a large scale event production with a direct intercom link between the Kennedy Center and the Harpo Studios in Chicago.
