What does this mean for the experts at Bexel Broadcast Fiber Solutions?

Well, the BFS team was called on to provide technical support to the NFL officiating staff for the recently installed (by Bexel BFS) HD Instant Replay System. The portable system, designed by Bexel and Harris, made the journey across the pond along with all the other specialty systems utilized in a standard US weekly game.

The entire instant replay system, including coach booths and a back-up system are now installed in the stadium using a fiber optic transport system provided by Bexel and the stadium’s own fiber network.

Issues? Several. The Bexel fiber team had to covert power from 240vac 50hz to 120vac 60hz for all equipment that did not have auto switching power supplies. Additionally, they had to covert from the 1080i50 UK standard to 1080i 59.9 - the US HD standard used for instant replay.

Challenging? For some, maybe. But not Bexel’s fiber optic experts! "All in a day’s work…well, a pretty long day…" noted Scott Nardelli, project supervisor and leader of Bexel BFS. The NFL International Series regular season will include this London game and another game on December 7, 2008, from Toronto, Canada.
