Bexel and The SMA Annual Seminar
Rancho Las Palmas Resort
Rancho Mirage, CA
February 1-5, 2009

The setting?
Desert landscape and the golfing mecca of Palm Springs, California.

The event?
The 2009 Annual (35th) Stadium Managers Association Seminar, a fraternal gathering of the people who manage the physical logistics of US sporting events and make it possible for them to be broadcast to the general public.

Very often, this is through the help of Bexel Broadcast Services and its network partners. The professionals assembled at this event have responsibilities that include such wide ranging areas as turf, security, weather, and concessions, as well as facilities infrastructure and broadcast capability.

Two of the more resonant panel discussions and keynotes to the event involved principals Chris Lamberth at M360 Architects, Bruce Miller at HOK, and Mark Williams at HKS - three leading architectural firms that frequently build and/or renovate stadium facilities such as the New Meadowlands Stadium for the Jets and Giants, Nationals Park for the Washington Nationals, and Lucas Oil Stadium for the Colts, respectively.

Bexel's integration services were well suited to the needs of the attendees of the event and to the architectural firms themselves. Bexel has a great deal of experience in stadium work (fiber-driven stadium builds, retro fits, and upgrades) through its subsidiary brand Bexel Broadcast Fiber Solutions (Bexel BFS), and is able to leverage its core competencies with Bexel ASG (specialty audio for television) and Bexel BVG (premier used equipment sales), in concert with its day-to-day legacy regional rental business.
