"WHAT IS BEXEL?" was designed to introduce our brand and its wide range of broadcast services. For many years, Bexel was known as a "Box House" - a huge warehouse full of audio, video and technical equipment for rent. But, when people actually took a closer look at the Bexel Experience, they saw an amazing variety of custom products, engineering expertise, unlimited technical advice and subsidiary brands with inventive, custom products servicing the biggest, most complicated broadcast events on the planet. Brand names sometimes really can tell an interesting story: Bexel is not and never will be just a gear house that does nothing more than video equipment rentals. Bexel is all about providing broadcast services to all of our customers, including the producers of the biggest and most important televised world events, using brilliantly designed and flawlessly executed systems and solutions. Producers that rent production equipment make deliberate choices about who ends up where in our rather tightly-knit industry. There are many video equipment rental companies and box houses to choose from but there is only one Bexel - the original and the genuine article. Welcome to the winning team - a service organization that did not form just by chance. Over 30 years ago, its founders and staff realized and proved that they can and will do so much more than just write down orders and deliver boxes. In this 22-slide Power Point presentation, our aim is to give you a glimpse of the variety of services offered by Bexel, to show the depth of our inventory and technical expertise and finally, to clear up the misconception that Bexel is just another box house... Slide 01 Bexel Broadcast Services is the umbrella brand that has trademarked the idea of superior 24/7/365 customer service to the broadcast industry. Under the main theme of renting production equipment and providing on-site technical expertise, Bexel maintains three specialty subsidiary brands: Bexel ASG - The Audio Specialties Group, Bexel BFS - Broadcast Fiber Solutions (the fiber specialists) and Bexel BVG - broadcastvideogear.com - the Bexel used equipment sales group. Slide 02 Bexel maintains a national network of clean, organized and well-stocked regional offices (located in major US production centers) run by long-tenured service professionals, seasoned engineers and operational logistics experts. The world headquarters and flagship facility (pictured here) is located in Burbank, CA., and features an impressive workflow contained within 50,000 square feet of warehouse and administrative space with nearly 10,000 square feet of mezzanine storage space. Slide 03 Bexel became a member of the Vitec Group in October 1991, through acquisition. Slide 06 Always looking for production hot spots, right fit acquisitions, business combinations and alliance / partnerships that make sense, Bexel has opened many regional offices through the years. We are always honest with ourselves and our marketplace. If we find that an office location no longer fits the Bexel Experience (for a variety of reasons), we will carefully evaluate the available data and make the best decision for all concerned. Although we have had physical presence in Anaheim, CA, Irvine CA, Las Vegas, NV, Nashville, TN, Orlando, FL and San Diego, CA, circumstances of the day dictated closures or consolidations with other branches. Currently, you will find thriving Bexel facilities in Atlanta, GA, Burbank, CA, Chicago, Ill, Dallas, TX, Miami, FL, New York, NY, Seattle, WA and Washington DC area. The map shows how we can still service former branch markets (specifically Las Vegas and Orlando) from existing office locations. Slide 07 Beyond the core business of renting the best television production equipment in the business, Bexel is in the business of accenting every rental with superior packaging and that includes the technical expertise and know-how of our talented staff of specialists: the Audio Specialties Group (Bexel ASG), the Fiber Solutions team (Bexel BFS) and the professional gear movers at Broadcast Video Gear / broadcastvideogear.com (Bexel BVG). It is the combination of these experts, coming together daily on a wide variety of projects, that make Bexel the true innovator and trail blazing leader of the rental industry. "We're supporting them with a number of different items, a couple of small flypacks, a couple of Sony 3300 Super Mo's, and a number of long lenses," says Craig Schiller, VP/GM of Live Event and Field Production. "We're also supporting the remote camera venders with a number of wide angle lenses." The new offering from Bexel is the Hercules flypack and NBC Olympics will use it for the aquatic events. As a result of size, space and economic constraints, flypacks will have a larger presence at this summer's Olympic Games, but that does not mean that the production will be scaled down. Bexel Broadcast Services will be one of the prime vendors with their trail blazing "Hercules" HD Flypack - the first and only of its kind. Bexel will break new ground for Olympic broadcasts. Slide 12 Hercules HD Flypack Breaks New Ground in Beijing - From SVG News: "Over the years we've heard a lot of comments about flypacks and the ergonomics of flypacks with regards to the operating positions, being in front of shipping cases, not having proper consoles for operating positions," explains Craig Schiller of Bexel Broadcast Services. "So we've taken that into account and have come up with something that we feel is quite unique. We have combined a number of racks into what we're calling dual racks. And we're doing a lot of internal wiring and including some operating positions in what we're calling modules." Hercules has many key components including the Sony MVS-8000G HD Switcher with individual keyer resizers and internal format converters so it is future-proofed to support the 1080-line progressive-scan high definition (HD) production of tomorrow. Slide 13 Our first major project on the world stage was World Alpine Skiing Championships in Aspen Colorado, at the request of Mr. Manolo Romero, back in 1988. We provided the field ENG cameras and edit systems to service all of the foreign broadcasters. That successful rental began our long support relationship with Mr. Romero and his various entities for the Olympics, such as Barcelona in 1992, in an ever-expanding role for all future Olympics. In 1994, World Cup Soccer was in the US Mr. Romero secured the contract to provide the support facilities to all rights holder broadcasters. We were the sole source provider for all equipment to support the 1994 World Cup Soccer Tournament "“ that is, all equipment other then the main venue mobile trucks and IBC infrastructure. The equipment supported over twenty international broadcasters, (all of which we still support today, including ARD/ZDF, SRG, NRK, FT1, FT2, Televisa and Univision to name a few. Located in Dallas, Texas with venues including Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, Washington DC and the Finals in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.. The month-long project was a $2.5M win - which went a lot further back in 1994! One month / eight states. It was an extremely complicated project at a time when the rental industry was very small with limited resources.
