Bexel Broadcast Services brought the final stop of their 2008 Road Ramble Tour to Pittsburgh, PA to spend the day with the NEP SuperShooters staff on December 10, 2008.

Many of the NEP staff present were from the scheduling departments, engineering, operations, and administrative roles. The goal was to provide a "hands-on" experience for the NEP technicians that featured the latest and newest in broadcast video and audio products. Bexel's experts and other broadcast manufacturers provided an intimate opportunity to ask questions, compare, demo, and use the latest production tools.

Some of the vendors and products presented were:

  • 3G Wireless "“ RF Video solutions
  • Autoscript Teleprompters
  • BexelASG Audio Services
  • Bexel Video Services
  • Evertz
  • Panasonic "“ P2 acquisition and editorial solutions
  • Petrol Bags
  • Sachtler
  • Sony "“ HD XDCam, and HD POV products
  • Vinten "“ Vinten Active Head
  • Zaxcom "“ Mini-RF Products

From Joe Puthoff at NEP, "I must admit it was good seeing everyone here on your ramble. There is something about a relaxed atmosphere that allows everyone to be at ease. Good people, Good food and a nicely organized demo. It was great to see our staff take time to explore the gear that Bexel provided. Please thank Tom, Craig, Mike and the others that were present for making the trip. Your efforts were noticed."

The so-called relaxed atmosphere - or was it just "relaxed people" (as noted by Mr. Puthoff in his quote) included Tom Dickinson, Craig Schiller, Lee Estroff, Mike King, Edd Bonner, and Joe Wire. Scott Cannon from Autoscript, Glen Sanders from Zaxcom, and Adam Nepp from 3G Wireless supported Bexel's team and did a great job answering questions while providing thorough demos for all assembled.

The (now famous) Bexel Road Ramble will continue in 2009 ...and where will the next Road Ramble stop? Stay tuned. You'll be the first to know"¦
