Bexel Supports NACDA and Affiliates Convention in Dallas

The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics 43rd Annual Convention was held in Dallas, Texas, with video production services provided by and integrated through Bexel Broadcast Services.

The convention represents the brain trust of athletic departments from over 100+ colleges and universities, participating in collaborative sessions, moderated panels, and awards luncheons documented for posterity through the efforts of Bexel's elite staff of technicians and operations personnel.

From a production and presentation standpoint the proceedings began Monday morning with Jerry Jones' keynote address for NACDA, a standing-room only event in which the owner of the Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to Frank Broyles (former coach and longtime athletic director at the University of Arkansas), and emphasized the importance of the competitive spirit in achieving success in sports and business endeavors. Mr. Jones gave the example of the Cowboy's new 1.1 billion dollar stadium underway in Arlington as a sports marketing beacon the athletic directors should adhere.

From there the program shifted to the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon where the nation's top athletic directors were honored by emcee and ESPN journalist Bonnie Bernstein and NACDA president Kevin White.

Wednesday featured the Director's Cup Luncheon emceed by former NFL standout Robert Smith. For both luncheons Bexel utilized an EVS and Folsom Screen Pro within the video village to drive the content, with the proceedings captured by a Canon 55x lens and full audio package. Daktronics and AVPS were instrumental partners in the projection and technical direction of the programs.

An additional panel entitled "I Want My Sports TV" was moderated by Bonnie Bernstein on Wednesday and featured Nada Usina from JumpTV, Tim Pernetti, EVP at CSTV, Burke Magnus from ESPN, and Leon Schweir, EVP, Big Ten Network- all discussed strategy on monetizing the collegiate teams assets through broadcast television and multi-platform distribution.

Bexel's presence was further stamped on the event with a booth in the host hotel where video of the proceedings within the ballrooms was intermittently broadcast and the ease and portability of video production was demonstrated through the Anycast system, shown on 42" plasmas replete with graphics, with HVX-200 camcorders there to capture the attendees as they milled around the booth.
