The Sports Video Group was formed to recognize and enhance the technology and efforts that are specific to broadcast sports television production. Their annual "Technology Summit" has proven to be the ultimate technology get-together outside of the NAB convention. SVG works in concert with Bexel Broadcast Services (a "Platinum Sponsor") to produce these events and, Bexel provides full audio / video facilities and production support. The all-day conference, complete with high level panel discussions, provided exceptional and engaging professional opinions and opened a discourse about the state of the sports production industry that has rarely been so dynamic and unique.
The event brought together over 400 of the world's leading sports broadcast companies, innovators and technicians and opened the door to their truthful expressions.
"The magic and drama surrounding HD is gone. This is what we do now. The "newness" has worn off. We make television that has more pixels and more audio," said Jerry Steinberg, SVP of operations for Fox Sports.
"Everything has to get smaller and be more efficient. HD is expensive and if we are going to grow, it will be because we evolve together to be able to do more with less," added Rick Abbot, VP of Operations at ESPN.
"This is quite a group to be a part of. We were all lucky to be in that room today to not only honor the people who started it all, but know we were part of the family that will evolve the industry," noted Scott Nardelli, with Bexel BFS (Broadcast Fiber Solutions).
