Bexel's Hercules HD Flypack is spending the weekend in Bermuda, capping off a month when it traveled more than 20,000 miles. Unfortunately, it won't be lounging in the pink sand but, instead, will be fired up for the PGA Grand Slam broadcast by Turner Sports.

This is the second year that Hercules handled the event and caps off a busy period for the flypack. This summer, it was used by NBC Olympics in Beijing to cover the aquatic events.

The unit features components unique to it. Hercules highlights include a Sony 8000G 80-input, fully optioned switcher, a Calrec Alpha console, 96-input LCD production monitor wall utilizing Evertz MVP multi-image display processors, Pesa Cheetah Multi-format video router and DRS audio router, multiple EVS LSM XT[2] six-channel HD DDRs, and Sony SRW-5500 HDCam SR VTRs and HDC-1500L multi-format HD-camera chains.

This year, Bexel Broadcast Fiber Solutions (BFS) provided a 72-strand tactical fiber backbone for signal transport around the course in Tucker's Town, Bermuda. Nucomm CamPac2 transmitters on Sony HDC-1500L cameras were also used to transport wireless HD camera feeds that complemented the 60,000 feet of tactical and SMPTE fiber.

Unique features like a fold-down LCD monitor wall keep the footprint of Hercules minimized for travel without compromising production values.
