Bexel Broadcast Services - Back to MTV

On Thursday February 7, 2008, Bexel Broadcast Services hosted another production workflow event "“ a private showing at the request of MTV Networks. Also present was guest host Panasonic representative Doug Leighton, DP Barry Braverman and Sony representative Michael Schueder. Bexel VP Tom Dickinson was the main speaker to the combined group. Topics discussed were the advantages of the tapeless format such as ease of transfer and ability to send files for easy edit and quick turnaround. Cost was discussed and comparisons were made. A Bexel created camera comparison sheet was distributed. A very valuable source of information was guest speaker Barry Braverman who brought attention to his own experience as a DP while traveling and how the new technology available today proved to be an advantage to him.

Sony-featured cameras were the Sony HVRZ1, XDCAM, XDCAM EX, Sony Portable Recorders and Multiviewers. Panasonic-featured camera were the HVX200, HPX 2000, HDX900 and the Panasonic HPM110 Laptop Recorder. Also featured was the Iconix POV, various support, including the Steadicam Merlin.

Rod Allen from BexelASG featured an entire audio flypack system and gave everyone a breakdown of how it was configured and how it can be modified and configured to their shoot specification. He pointed out the big advantage of having Bexel as the provider of their support needs was because of how the system is packaged as compared to what clients have experienced from other vendors in the past and that they want to make sure they recommend the best solution to their third party production people.

In attendance were 16 MTV staff and/or affiliates - from Line Producer, VP and SVP of Productions, Production and Executive Assts, Production Manager, Post Production Specialist, and Creative Content Tech.
