January 17-20, 2008 - Hand of Hope, the world mission's outreach of Joyce Meyer Ministries, held the Festival of Life conference in Mumbai, India. This free Christian outreach event included Biblical messages from international speaker and New York Times best selling author Joyce Meyer. In an effort to record this event Joyce Meyer Ministries partnered with Bexel Broadcast Services which provided a complete high definition television production solution. Mark Alexander, one of Bexel's senior technical consultants, crafted an equipment package of five Panasonic HDX-900 cameras tied together via remote paint boxes and time code. Audio was multi tracked to Fostex DVD Ram units. The cameras were outfitted with Fujinon lenses, and two were mounted on Jimmy Jibs, which were rented locally in Mumbai. The footage will be edited into five half hour episodes of Enjoying Everyday Life, the flagship daily broadcast of Joyce Meyer Ministries. This was the first high definition production for Joyce Meyer Ministries. John Pipes, Senior Producer at JMM, opted for the Panasonic cameras because of their ability to shoot high quality 1080i images at a lower cost than other HD options. The DVCPRO HD tape format also integrated easily into JMM's Final Cut Pro post-production work flow. The production was engineered and directed as if a line cut was taking place on location, however all five cameras recorded to their own DVCPRO HD backs. This approach enabled JMM to shoot HD while helping to keep costs down.Video engineer Bill McKee operated the paint boxes to keep the cameras matching, while sound engineer Wally Duguid mixed the multi-track audio recording. Coordination of sending this amount of equipment to Mumbai, India was also a large undertaking. With over 50 cases of equipment that needed to clear customs on time for the event, Bexel teamed with Schenker Logistics to successfully fulfill this need.
